young idols debuting??
TW: suicide, drugs
It's 2023 almost to 2024. Years going by and adding up, the generations in kpop also adds up. A 1st gen (generation) idol from the group g.o.d debuted at the age of 30, he debuted when he was an adult man. But now you see in 4th gen, a member from newjeans named Hyein which is also the maknea (youngest) of the group debuted as an idol by the age of 14, and started working as a model and youtuber at the age of 8 :D. She was that youngg!! Now we're already in 5th gen and some companies are training idols that was born before 2011, meaning the youngest member of a group could be 13 years old!!
Some would wonder as to why is it such a problematic thing? The problematic part is that the kpop industry is such a scary place to be. Idols have committed suicide and do drugs because of the stress from being an idol. Not to mention, the crazy beauty standards of the kpop industry. A reason why many many people dislike the fact that young idols are debuting is because of the crazy fans. Sasaeng. The crazy fans that all hate. Sasaeng has done a lot of things, from taking pictures privately, following them everywhere, go spying on them as a daily.
There was a case involving the boy group, BTS about Sasaengs. BTS was staying in a hotel due to their concert activities. They went live on an app after their concert, wanting to talk to their fans. But while going live together, there was a figure on their door looking at them. Some would say its just their staff, maybe their staff are checking on them. It wasn't their staff. A video blew up on social media, the video was BTS on their live. A girl was giggling after taking a video of them and then ran away after that.
Sasaengs are trully crazy. That's why some people are concerned about young idol debuting. They're terrified for the idols. For their mental and physical health.
ihh scary scary people man.
